Epicurus is the father of epicureanism, one of the major schools of philosophy from ancient Greece. According to Epicurus, the goal of a human life was to achieve happiness by the absence of pain and mental disturbance. This should not be conflated with hedonism, as Epicurus believed these things could be achieved by living a simple life.

He also held disdain toward superstition, believing that events such as earthquakes or lightning were explainable in, as he called it, atomic terms, rather than being an act of the gods. Believing this would only lead to anxiety. The same concept is expressed in one of his famous quotes on death:

“Death is nothing to us, since when we are, death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.”

The background is inspired by the place where Epicurus spent most of his time teaching, in "the garden”, which was also the name of his school, Ho Kepos in Greek.

The quote “λάθε βιώσας” translates to “live in obscurity“, meaning that one should not strive for power, status or glory. But should spend time with friends, family and eating delicious food instead. True pleasures are often simple in nature.

See, I am more than a pretty face. Funky tees and a history lesson. Take that Mr. Cripps, my old History teacher who said I would never amount to anything.

Washing Instructions

Be wise, and follow these washing instructions!

  1. Wash and dry your t-shirts inside out. It's a simple yet crucial step.
  2. Opt for low temperatures and gentle detergents. Your shirt isn't a summer barbecue, so avoid high heat!
  3. Resist the temptation to spin excessively. Extra spins can lead to more wear and tear.
  4. Air dry your t-shirts whenever possible. If tumble drying, avoid heavyweight companions like winter coats and blankets.
  5. Iron your t-shirts inside out and start with a lower heat setting. Designs and irons aren't always the best of friends.
